On October 4, Chief Diversity Officer Ainsley Thomas attended the Diversity Conference Series at Monroe Community College. The conference explored the socio-historical and cultural factors that impact how trauma-informed care is practiced when taking into consideration issues of race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, and other environmental factors. Trauma-informed care recognizes the pervasive nature of trauma and promotes environments of healing and recovery, rather than practices and services that may inadvertently re-traumatize.
